The Data Hub
The Data Hub offers three ways to explore regional labor market data—by county, by metropolitan statistical area (MSA), and by JobsOhio region. Use the options below to view the level of geography that best fits your needs. You’ll also find supporting resources on this page, including a list of sources, a data dictionary, and an update schedule to help you understand and navigate the data with confidence.
| Term | Definition |
| Continued Claims | The number of people who have already filed an initial claim and who have experienced a week of unemployment and then filed a continued claim to claim benefits for that week of unemployment. Continued claims data are based on the week of unemployment, not the week when the initial claim was filed. |
| Employed | To be employed, people must meet any of these criteria: worked at least 1 hour as a paid employee; worked at least 1 hour in their own business, profession, trade, or farm; were temporarily absent from their job, business, whether or not they were paid for the time off; or worked without pay for a minimum of 15 hours in a business or farm owned by a member of their family. |
| Employment-to-Population Ratio | The percentage of the population that is currently working divided by the civilian non-institutional population. |
| In-Commuters | People that travel into a county for work from the county they live in. |
| Labor Force | Includes all people 16 and older who are classified as employed and unemployed. The labor force is the number of people who are either working or actively looking for work. |
| Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) | The percentage of the population that is either working or actively looking for work. |
| LMI Learning Lab | Monthly webinars that provide an overview of labor market information on a variety of topics. These sessions are designed to inform participants about the local job market, guide them to relevant data and resources, and equip them with the knowledge to navigate and understand workforce trends. |
| Out-Commuters | People that live in a county and travel to other counties for work. |
| Poverty Level | Poverty level is determined by the total family income divided by the poverty threshold. For more information, visit https://www.census.gov/topics/income-poverty/poverty/guidance/poverty-measures.html |
| Unemployed | To be unemployed, people must meet these criteria: They were not employed during the reference week (defined in survey); they were available for work during the reference week, except for temporary illness; and they made at least one specific, active effort to find a job during the 4-week period ending with the survey reference week OR they were temporarily laid off and expecting to be recalled to their job. If they do not meet these criteria, they are not in the labor force. |

| Local Area Unemployment Statistics | Local Area Unemployment Statistics provide estimated labor force, employment, unemployment and unemployment rates for the United States, Ohio, metropolitan areas, former economic development regions, counties and selected cities. |
| Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD), LEHD Origin-Destination Employment Statistics (LODES) | Statistics on employment, earnings, and job flows at detailed levels of geography and industry and for different demographic group |
| Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) | The Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) program produces employment and wage estimates annually for over 800 occupations. |
| Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) | The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) provide quarterly counts of employment and wages reported by employers. |
| Quarterly Workforce Indicators, 2024 | The Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI) are a set of economic indicators including employment, job creation, earnings, and other measures of employment flows |
| Talent Neuron | TalentNeuron gathers job ad data from a wide array of reputable sources, including government reports, research networks, job boards, trade publications, and candidate profiles to provide insights on the labor market. |
